Zach Silver

Zach joins FIREafter several years litigating civil rights and liberties issues. While in private practice at a Washington, D.C., law firm, Zach maintained an extensive pro bono civil rights portfolio that garnered him 鈥淗igh Honors鈥 recognition on the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll for 2021-22. Before entering private practice, Zach was a legal fellow at the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, where he brought affirmative litigation, conducted legislative advocacy, and published educational materials focused on the impacts of modern technologies on civil rights and liberties.

Originally from New York City, Zach earned a B.S. in mathematics with a minor in computer science from SUNY Oneonta and graduated cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. During law school, Zach was Head Online Editor of the Cardozo Law Review and an Alexander Fellow for Senior U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska of the Southern District of New York. For nearly a decade before law school, Zach held various technical roles involving privacy and cybersecurity.

Zach is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and New York. In his free time, Zach can be found cooking new challenging recipes; working on his stand-up comedy; and playing with his dog, Jed Barklet.
