After a congressional hearing regarding anti-Semitism on campus, Yale President Peter Salovey announced on December 7, 2023, that calls for the genocide of Jews are 鈥渉arassing, intimidating, and discriminatory鈥 and violate Yale鈥檚 campus policies on discrimination and harassment. He also stated Yale would punish 鈥渋ndividuals culpable of such speech.鈥 On December 13, FIREwrote Yale explaining that fleeting, untargeted political statements, without more, are protected under First Amendment standards, and calling on the university to hold fast to its commitment to these standards. Yale failed to respond to our letter.
