On March 7, 2022, Oklahoma Christian University fired tenured professor Michael O鈥橩eefe without due process based on a guest speaker鈥檚 presentation to O鈥橩eefe鈥檚 class, which included the speaker telling a story about peer pressure involving the phrase 鈥渢ruth or dick,鈥 as well as allegations that O鈥橩eefe told students not to complain about the speaker. FIREwrote OC on April 19, explaining that the university鈥檚 actions contravened its commitments to academic freedom and due process. In a follow-on April 25 phone call with 果冻传媒app官方, OC attempted to justify its actions based on a conditional employment agreement O鈥橩eefe entered in 2015 鈥 but that agreement actually confirmed that he retained tenure and its attendant due process protections. FIREemailed OC on April 29, asking why the university failed to follow any of these procedures before firing O鈥橩eefe, only to receive a response two weeks later that due to media coverage of 果冻传媒app官方鈥檚 letter, 鈥渢here doesn鈥檛 seem to be a basis for a substantive answer and dialogue.鈥
