Cases
California State University - Dominguez Hills
Case Overview
In April 2023, the College of Business Administration and Public Policy at California State University, Dominguez Hills circulated to faculty a proposed diversity, equity, and inclusion policy requiring faculty to implement DEI language and materials into their syllabi and teaching. On June 5, FIREwrote CSUDH urging it to reject the policy, which would violate faculty members’ right to academic freedom and freedom of conscience. After receiving no response from CSUDH, FIREwrote the university again on July 5, requesting a substantive response affirming that the university will reject the proposed policy.
