On March 31, 2009, The Boston Globe reported that Boston College not only banned former Weather Underground member William Ayers from campus but also refused to permit him to speak on campus via satellite to an audience limited to members of the BC community, citing 鈥渟ecurity issues.鈥 On April 2, FIREwrote to BC, criticizing it for its history of censorship, control over student press, and speaker disinvitations. As with previous letters to the college, FIREdid not receive a response from BC.
